April 2011 Vintage Fashion and
Royal Marine Hotel, Dun
Sunday 17th April 11am –
Vintage Ireland will be holding its annual spring Vintage Fashion
and Décor Fair on Sunday 17th April at the Royal Marine Hotel in Dun
Laoghaire. This year the sheer glamour and fun of the event is
expected to attract more than 2,000 visitors from all around Ireland.
Featuring over 40 countrywide dealers in both vintage fashion
and 20th century memorabilia and décor, this fair brings together
everyone’s favourite parts of the vintage scene.
The fair boasts a unique selection of vintage fashion. As we
regularly see styles from decades past revisited in modern fashion
trends, it begs the question: if you want a retro look, why not go for
the real thing? ‘Vintage’ as a style has seen an awakening in recent
years, it allows us to remember glamorous days past when we
incorporate even a small part of the charm of vintage into our
The Vintage Fair also offers a Best Dressed competition during
the day, where women hailing from Cork, Limerick and Galway have
been known to come along spruced up and in their finest vintage just
to compete for the esteemed title of Best Dressed (along with the
many prizes). Those emulating style, chic-ness and a certain ‘je ne
sais quoi’, while incorporating key vintage pieces into their look, could
be in the running for some of the many prizes this year.
In between scouring all the stalls for eye-catching pieces, the
Vintage Fair also offers you an opportunity to sit back, relax and have
a good time. Why not head over to the retro cocktail bar and groove
along to the fabulous jazz notes of Anita Williams and Rouge? Or pop
over to the makeover area where Hair stylist Louise Joyce and Make-up
artist Christian Loh will offer you a complete retro makeover.
Afterwards, you can don your new look on the dance floor, strutting
your stuff to that seventies’ vibe with DJ Louise Clarke.
This year, the boys have not been forgotten. Traditional barbers
The Waldorf Barbershop will be on hand to pamper our men fans, with
retro hair styling, hot towel shaves and sampling of their new and
exclusive range of male grooming products, based on original Waldorf
Barbers recipes dating from the 1920’s.
From vintage chic to design kitsch, this Vintage Fair is a savvy
shopper’s paradise, where every piece is unique, making the thrill of
the bargain hunt even more special.
